If you’re a fan of the popular gay comic strip Troy, then you know it’s full of hilarious, heartfelt and often political stories happening to a group of ridiculously attractive gay men in West Hollywood. Now Troy is headed to the big screen. Series creator Michael Derry has finished an animated short film based on his strip called Troy: Naked Boys Behind Bars, Sing! In this short, lead character and out and proud actor Troy nabs a role in the new musical “Naked Boys Behind Bars Sing” that he hopes will be his big break. There he meets his hunky costar Nick and is immediately smitten. Their relationship and the escapades of Troy’s friends Rigo, Ray, Jorge, and Derrick unfold in this hysterical, sarcastic sweet and silly animated satire that is hitting the film festival circuit now. Having already premiered at Bent Con and DIVA, the 4th Annual Diversity in Animation Festival, Troy: Naked Boys Behind Bars, Sing! is off to screen at the Breckinridge Festival of Film and San Francisco’s big Frameline Film Festival over the next two weeks. For more on these screenings and information about tickets, etc head here, and watch for more festivals to come! … I really recommend you see this great and fun film which features the voice talents of Derry, Ben Patrick Johnson, Euriamis Losada, Toby Massenburg, Maurice Jamal, John Taylor, Anthony DeLaCruz, Paul Bradley, Michael Hennessey, Noah’s Arc’s Doug Spearman, famed Hollywood funny guy and Emmy winning writer Bruce Vilanch and even, yours truly, Jason Boegh, in a small role. You will love it, I promise! To that end, check out the trailer for Troy below and head to the film’s website here for all the information you need to know!
