Miranda Lambert, Jason Aldean and Kelly Clarkson Top the ACM Awards (yes, Kelly Clarkson!)

Tonight’s Academy of Country Music Awards honored several of the genres top stars like repeating Entertainer of the Year Taylor Swift. However, the show also welcomed a pop princess honoring Kelly Clarkson with two awards for her duet with Jason Aldean, “Don’t You Wanna Stay”. The beautiful ballad which hit # 1 on the Country charts and was a Pop, Hot AC and AC crossover smash has also sold over 2 million downloads, grabbed a Grammy nomination and won a CMA Award as well. That is one enduring hit…. Clarkson wasn’t the only former American Idol winner tonight either as last year’s winner Scotty McCreery won Best New Artist while former ACM winner Carrie Underwood opened the show with her new smash “Good Girl”. (Check out her sexy performance below)…. Other winners included Thompson Square, Lady Antebellum and husband and wife duo Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert. Jason Aldean leads the CMT Music Award Nominations

It seems like we just had a country music award show like last week. Well, it wasn’t last week, but a few weeks ago was the Academy of Country Music Awards, and today we have more country award news. This morning the nominations for the CMT Music Awards honoring the best in Country music videos were announced. Leading the way is the breakout country crooner of the year Jason Aldean who received noms for his videos “My Kinda Party” and “Don’t You Wanna Stay”, his duet with Kelly Clarkson. Joining her fellow Idol as a nominee is Carrie Underwood who grabbed two nods for her video “Undo It”. Landing three nominations apiece were Taylor Swift, Lady Antebellum, Zac Brown Band, The Band Perry, Rascal Flatts and Miranda Lambert. Adele and Katy are the Ladies Livin’ at the Top

It looks like Adele and Katy Perry don’t want anyone else to get any glory on the music charts this year as both of them continue their domination of the Album and Singles charts. As Adele’s 21 returns to the top of the Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart, it also passes 1 million in sales and remains the top-selling album of the year by over 300,000 copies. (Mumford & Sons’ Sigh No More is in second.). Adele is also helped by her leadoff single “Rolling in the Deep” which remains in the top ten of the Hot 100 and the Top Digital Singles Sales charts… Speaking of the singles charts, Katy Perry’s fourth consecutive Hot 100 and Digital Singles Sales # 1 holds steady as “E.T.” easily wins another week on top. So far this year Katy is the top digital singles sales artist with big numbers for “E.T.”, “Firework” and “Teenage Dream”… The other news on the albums chart comes from debuts in the top ten by Hollywood Undead and Asking Alexandria who both grab their first top ten records. And Blake Shelton makes waves on the singles sales chart with his first top ten “Honey Bee” which got a big boost from his hosting gig in the ACM’s last week and his upcoming stint as a judge on NBC’s The Voice…. Dueting Divas Dazzle at the ACM Awards

You may be wondering what the heck Rihanna was doing at a country music awards show over the weekend. However, after watching her perform her new single “California King Bed” with Sugarland’s Jennifer Nettles, you probably didn’t care. It was that good and was one of two fantastic duets that stole the show at the Academy of Country Music Awards last night. The other was a big diva duet between former ACM Entertainer of the Year Carrie Underwood and new American Idol judge Steven Tyler who slayed their hits “Undo It” and “Walk This Way”. Check out both performances below. Also take a look at the winners list which featured Miranda Lambert taking home 4 awards and Taylor Swift grabbing the big award for the first time in her career.

Carrie is the Entertainer of the Year AGAIN!

Carrie Underwood has done it again. Tonight she won Entertainer of the Year at the Academy of Country Music Awards for the second consecutive year becoming the first female artist to win this award twice. Other female acts who have won the prize, however just once, include Shania Twain, Dolly Parton and the Dixie Chicks. It was an auspicious win as Carrie lost in the other 5 categories she was nominated in. (At least she can take solace in the big award as her rival Taylor Swift went 0 for 5 tonight). Carrie was also recognized for having received the “Triple Crown” of ACM honors in the past consisting of Best New Artist, Female Vocalist and Entertainer of the Year. Other big winners tonight included Lady Antebellum and Miranda Lambert who was a surprise Album of the Year and Female Vocalist winner over Swift and Underwood. For all your ACM info, click here.
