Burlesque Sneak Peak~ Christina’s a “Good Girl”

November 3, 2010

The highly anticipated movie musical Burlesque starring Oscar winner Cher and in her big screen debut multiple Grammy Award winner Christina Aguilera on November 24th and we keep getting more juicy tidbits about the film. You’ve seen the trailer and Christina’s wonderful take on Sam Cooke’s classic track “Something’s Got a Hold on Me” and now we have another clip, a performance of “But I’m a Good Girl” (first featured on Access Hollywood). I have to say this clip gives me a lot of hope that the film could be a success and stop all those pesky Glitter/Showgirls comparisons. If we focus on this number, the movie is looking more Chicago meets Cabaret and that’s a good thing. Take a look below and let me know your thoughts. And here’s the official track listing for the Burlesque soundtrack which hits stores on Nov. 22nd. Note it features two new songs by Cher including the Oscar ready power ballad “You Haven’t Seen the Last of Me” written by 6 time Oscar nominee and Grammy winner Diane Warren. There are several other songs the studio will be pushing for the Best Original Song Award as well including “Bound to You” written by Australian pop star Sia and Christina herself. Glee Gets John Stamos!

June 8, 2010

Today reports surfaced that Uncle Jessie himself, John Stamos, would be joining TV phenom Glee next season in the recurring role of Emma’s (Jayma Mays) dentist boyfriend. To this, I say, hooray! Stamos has the perfect combination of looks, charm, talent and musicality for this great musical comedy and will be a nice obstacle to the budding Emma and Will (Matthew Morrison) romance. Having worked with Stamos on the dearly departed comedy Jake in Progress, I can tell you what a great and genuine guy he is, not to mention a wonderful actor. I sure hope he gets to sing as well. The Full House and ER vet was recently seen on Broadway in the revival of Bye Bye Birdie and has also appeared on the boards as the emcee in the revival of Cabaret. Take a look at his musical theatre chops from Cabaret below and watch Glee tonight and next fall on Fox…. And if you scroll down further. Check out me and John in a scene from Jake in Progress…. hehe.
