“Pieces” comes to New York City

August 8, 2012

Hey all my New York based friends and readers, this one is for you. This weekend my dear friend Chris Phillips brand new play Pieces makes its NYC debut at the New York International Fringe Festival. The play is a great drama and murder mystery rolled into one as a powerful gay Hollywood producer is murdered and a damaged young man is accused of the crime while being defended by an ambitious and conflicted Public Defender. This new work examines the fragmentation of culture and more specifically gay culture and the struggles individuals have with their own identities. It’s a wonderful, searing and provocative piece that first played in Los Angeles in April. I’m so proud of Chris and my other dear friend Brian Zimmer who directed the show. I urge all of you to get out and see it asap. Plus, you will be treated to some great performances by a cast including Paolo Andino, Jonathan Gibson, Chris Salvatore and the tremendous Joe Briggs and Nina Millin who play a reporter working on the murder story and the Prosecutor for the trial. I have to give special props to those last two actors who I thought stole the show when I saw it this Spring. For more on the show, head here. For more on the NYC Fringe Festival, head here. And check out the performance information below. Congrats on Pieces everyone!

I’m off to Texas!

September 8, 2011

Dearest readers, I’m about to head out on a true western adventure…. I’m headed out to Texas! It will surely be a culture shock for this LA born and bred boy and I’m very excited about it. Now, I probably shouldn’t be too scared for my first visit to the Lone Star state as I’m headed to the very forward thinking city of Austin that’s full of fun, culture and apparently college students. It’s also home to the 24th Annual Austin Gay and Lesbian Film Festival where the short film I produced and starred in, the things i cannot change, will be having its world premiere. I’m thrilled to be presenting our wonderful short in Austin and will be carrying the flag for my costar/co-producer Cory Schneider and our co-producer/writer/director Chris Phillips. Our film screens on Sunday the 11th in the “Boys Shorts” program and I’ll give you all the news from the festival when I return. There will be a lot of great films screened at the festival as well like The Green and We Were Here and I’ll be catching a bunch of them. For more on the festival head to this link:

I’ve been busy…

March 23, 2011

Hey readers,
Sorry for the lack of posts lately. I’ve been busy. I just shot another project for the past few days called “Perfect”. It’s a short film for the USA Network and the web and should premiere in May. It’s a very funny and cute project featuring Tony Hale (Arrested Development) and Carla Gallo (We Bought a Zoo) along with a fantastic cast and crew. I’ll let ya know the exact air date soon… I’ll also let ya know about a short film I produced and starred in called “the things i cannot change” that is about to hit the festival circuit. It’s a fantastic drama co-starring Cory Schneider that was adapted from the GLAAD Award nominated play Revolver by Chris Phillips (who also wrote/directed/produced things). So, watch for those updates soon. And I’ll have new posts for ya later today.
Thanks.
Jason
