Last Thursday’s season finale of Glee was a busy one. We saw the Glee Club win Sectionals, Brittany (Heather Morris), leave town for M.I.T., Will (Emmy nominee Matthew Morrison) and Emma (Jayma Mays) finally tie the not, and the identity of “Catfish” was revealed. (Hello I soooo knew it was Unique played by fantastic Glee Project finalist Alex Newell). What we didn’t see was whether or not Rachel (Emmy nominee Lea Michelle) got her part on Broadway in Funny Girl. We did at least get to witness her amazing performance of the Celine Dion hit “To Love You More” at her callback, and that performance is precisely why people should still be watching Glee. Michelle was amazing and the number was just stunning. I have it for you below… But you will have to wait til September for season 5 of Glee and the reveal of Rachel’s fate.
Glee is back this Thursday with another tribute episode. After taking on Madonna, Michael Jackson, Fleetwood Mac, Whitney Houston, Lady Gaga and Britney Spears, the show takes on another superstar diva… Britney Spears. Yes, it’s Britney 2.0…. Glee will tackle 8 more Spears hits including the iconic “Oops… I Did It Again”, the lovely ballad “Everytime” plus two more # 1 hits “Womanizer” and “Hold It Against Me”. Now, I have your first look at this week’s new episode with the full video for “Hold” below. (And for full music previews of the show’s songs, head to mjsbigbloghere.) Enjoy and watch the rejuvenated season 4 of Glee Thursday on Fox following Britney herself on The X Factor.
Glee “Hold It Against Me”- Brittany (Heather Morris)
The Emmy winning juggernaut that is Glee returns for season 4 this Thursday night at 9pm in its new time slot following The X Factor. The show is changing quite a bit this season with dual story lines focusing on the kids in Ohio who didn’t graduate (Blaine, Brittany, Artie, Tina, etc) and some new additions to their choir room while the graduates (Rachel, Kurt, Finn, Santana, etc) pursue their dreams in New York and other places. We will also see some big guest stars by the likes of Oscar nominee Kate Hudson as an evil dance teacher at NYADA who faces off with Rachel (Emmy nominee Lea Michelle) and Emmy and Golden Globe winner Sarah Jessica Parker as a fashionista involved with Kurt (Golden Globe winner Chris Colfer)…. And now, we have a little taste of the new season with the first musical number to hit the web with the McKinley high kids taking on Carly Rae Jepsen‘s massive # 1 smash “Call Me Maybe”. Check out Heather Morris,Jenna Ushkowitz, Darren Criss and Alex Newell (The Glee Project finalist who returns to the show as Unique) doing “Maybe” below, and watch the Glee season premiere Thursday Sept. 13th on Fox.
Glee “Call Me Maybe”
And here’s a preview of the first episode of season 4, “The New Rachel”
Last week, I shared with you Glee’s amazing a capella version of the late great Grammy winning icon Whitney Houston‘s # 1 smash “How Will I Know”, and last night the episode that featured the song finally aired. Along with that great number, the show tackled six more Whitney classics. They were the # 1′s “I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)”, “So Emotional”, “Saving All My Love for You” and the # 4 hits “I Have Nothing”, “It’s Not Right but It’s Ok” and “My Love is Your Love”. Here I have a few more highlights for you from the emotional and wonderful episode. Enjoy.
Glee featuring Darren Criss (Blaine) “It’s Not Right But It’s Ok”
Glee featuring Heather Morris (Brittany) and Naya Rivera (Santana) “I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)”
Glee featuring Chris Colfer (Kurt) “I Have Nothing”
This week Gleetakes on the iconic 70′s disco film Saturday Night Feverwith a special tribute episode featuring music from the film. Grammy winning Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame legends The Bee Gees were responsible for most of the big songs from the soundtrack which to date is the second biggest selling soundtrack of all time following Whitney Houton’s The Bodyguard. The album featured # 1 smashes “Night Fever”, “If I Cant Have You”, “Stayin’ Alive” and “You Should Be Dancing”. The latter song was actually a # 1 hit in 1976 for the Bee Gees but was featured prominently in the 1978 film, and it’s the first clip we get to preview. Check out Blaine (Darren Criss), Mike (Harry Shum Jr.) and Brittany (Heather Morris) tearing up the dance floor with their take on “You Should Be Dancing” below. Then scroll down for our next clip featuring Mercedes (Amber Riley) absolutely slaying The Tramps’ “Disco Inferno” which hit # 11 on the charts after being re-released on the Fever soundtrack. Enjoy both clips and watch an all new disco-fied Glee tomorrow night on Fox.
Kelly Clarkson is riding high at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 for a second week with her latest smash “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)” and just had high-profile performances at the Super Bowl and the Grammy Awards. And next week, she is getting the Glee treatment as the cast covers her current #1 featuring vocals by Naya Rivera (Santana), Heather Morris (Brittany) and Amber Riley (Mercedes). This is the second time Glee has covered Clarkson as they did “My Life Would Suck Without You” in season 1. I’m sure the new cover will be a big highlight as the Glee kids head to the Sectionals competition. Check out your first glimpse of Glee’s “Stronger” below and watch the full show Tuesday night on Fox.
This week’s all new Glee will feature (SPOILER ALERT……)
The songs of Fleetwood Mac’s classic album Rumours. But that’s not all, we’ll also get the debut of Brittany S. Pierce’s (the hilarious Heather Morris) internet talk show “Fondue for Two”. Check out the new clip below which features Brittany gossiping with Mercedes (Amber Riley) and Tina (Jenna Ushkowitz), and catch Glee tomorrow night on Fox.
I meant to post this last week after Tuesday’s fantastic Glee episode featuring the return of likely Emmy contender Gwyneth Paltrow. My favorite song of the week was Gwyneth’s Holly doing “Landslide” with Santana (Naya Rivera) and Brittany (Heather Morris). This version of the Fleetwood Mac and Dixie Chicks smash is simply beautiful and it’s the biggest seller of the week’s songs on iTunes. Check it out below and watch Glee Tuesdays on Fox.
Ok, last night’s Gleewas a hot mess, a delightfully funny alcohol drenched hot mess, that is…. While the kids (and the faculty) learned lessons about the dangers of the bottle, we were treated to a hilarious performance of Key-dollar sign-HA’s ”Tik Tok” by Brittany (Heather Morris) and the glee club that ended in copious vomiting. I found that rather fitting since that’s my reaction to all of Ke$ha’s music… And we also got the first Blaine (Darren Criss) and Rachel (Lea Michelle) duet with their cover of the Human League’s 1981 # 1 smash “Don’t You Want Me”. It was my favorite song of the night and a great pairing for these two gifted performers. Check it out below and watch Glee Tuesdays on Fox.
It’s almost time for the return of Glee. Following what seems like an eternity, but has actually only been about 2 months, the Golden Globe winning pop phenom Glee will be back with two new episodes next week. Things start off with the supersized Super Bowl episode on Sunday 2/6 following that big game, and then we’ll get another all new Valentine’s Day episode on the 8th. I, naturally, can’t wait. We’ve already heard there will be songs by Michael Jackson and Lady Antebellum in Sunday’s episode and there will be a lot of love songs for the 8th. So, that got me thinking… Just what have been the best songs the show has delivered so far this season? Well, I have gone over the tracks again and I’ve ranked the top 15 for you. Interestingly, newcomers Charice and Darren Criss and guest Gwyneth Paltrow all made appearances on my list outshining some of the shows stars like Cory Monteith, Matthew Morrison and Amber Riley. It’s also interesting to note that Golden Globe winner Chris Colfer is all over the list. It’s no doubt due to his great material with the bullying storyline and his father’s heart attack story arc….
