Like many of her fans, I’m still in disbelief that Whitney “The Voice” Houston is gone. It’s still just so sad and heartbreaking. At least, we will always have her music to carry on her legacy. In fact, fans are buying it up like crazy and she is likely to have four albums in the top ten of this week’s upcoming Billboard 200 Albums chart (Whitney: The Greatest Hits, The Bodyguard, Whitney Houston and I Look to You joining the previous three which are currently in the upper echelon of the chart)…. And now, lots of previously unreleased, unheard and rare Whitney songs and performances are arising. The latest is her fantastic version of Steve Winwood‘s Grammy winning #1 1986 comeback smash “Higher Love”. Houston’s take on the song is pure joy wrapped up in 80′s pop goodness. The word is that she had recorded it during the sessions for her # 1 album from 1987 Whitney, and now I have it for you. Check it out below and then take a listen to Winwood’s original as well. Despite the fact that the original is wonderful and arguably has become a classic, I have to say I’m loving Whitney’s more. Which do you prefer?
