Lady Antebellum is “Golden” on the Charts

LadyAntebellumGoldenCounty superstars Lady Antebellum land their 3rd #1 album on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart with their latest, Golden, this week selling 167.000 units. They also top the country charts for a third time. The Grammy winning group hold off a stronger than expected debut from the awesome soundtrack to the fantastic film The Great Gatsby which comes barreling in at # 2 with 137,000 copies sold. Also debuting the top ten are another compilation in the Now That’s Music Series at # 3, Pistol Annies at # 5 and Rod Stewart at # 7. Michael Buble and P!nk Rule the Charts

Sorry for the delay on my post about the biggest hits in music this week, but I’ve been dealing with some “real” work stuff as my short comedy Dirty Talk continues across the festival circuit. (We just played Boston and won the Audience Award at the Miami LGBT Film Fest!!) … But back to the music world, Grammy winner Michael Buble nabs his fourth # 1 album as To Be Loved debuts atop the Billboard 200 Albums chart. He holds off fellow Grammy winner and American Idol winner Fantasia who lands at # 2 with Side Effects of You, her third top ten album and second # 1 R&B Album. Also debuting in the top ten are alt-rockers Phoenix, metal head Rob Zombie and Will.I.Am with a slightly disappointing #9 debut for his latest. You saw P!nk‘s long running hit album hanging on for another week in the top ten above, and a big reason why is the third top ten smash from the album “Just Give Me A Reason” featuring Nate Ruess which holds on to the top spot of the Hot 100 Singles Chart for a third week. She fends off a strong charge by Macklmore & Ryan Lewis and will have to face some new competition by Swedish dance duo Icona Pop who charge into the top ten with their fist top ten hit “I Love It”. It’s P!nk and Paramore at the Top of the Charts

On the latter list, Paramore nabs their first chart topper with their new self titled album which narrowly holds off the latest from Brad Paisley, Wheelhouse. Other top ten debuts this week come from Eric Church, Tyga, rockers Volbeat and Stone Sour. Falling down to # 3 after three weeks on top is Justin Timberlake with The 20/20 Experience, but he can take solace on the singles chart as “Mirrors” hits # 7 giving him two top ten singles from the disc. Justin is Still on Top of the Charts

imagesJustin Timberlake continues his banner year in 2013 with a second week atop the Billboard 200 album chart with The 20/20 Experience. The Grammy winners sold another 318,000 copies last week to bring his two-week total to 1.29 million making it the only album to top a million units this year. I think Timberlake will be a big Grammy contender for this record next year not to mention I’m sure he’ll grab another Emmy nomination for his recent Saturday Night Live hosting gig… He also holds off a barrage of debuts from Lil Wayne, Blake Shelton, OneRepublic, Alan Jackson, Depeche Mode and The Strokes. Justin Timberlake is Back on Top in a Big Way

2020EXPERIENCEGrammy winner Justin Timberlake makes a huge impression with his third album as The 20/20 Experience overperformed even the most optimistic projects with 968,000 copies sold to land him his second # 1 album on the Billboard charts. That’s the biggest debut of 2013, Justin’s best-selling week ever and the biggest debut since Taylor Swift’s Red. With 452,000 of those units sold digitally, it was also the 3rd biggest digital debut in history following Swift and Lady Gaga. Not only is he killing it on the album charts, but JT’s latest single “Mirrors” flies up to a new peak of # 13 while his first single from the album, “Suit & Tie” also grabs a new peak of # 3…. But Timberlake was not the only debuting artist this week as Nashville Star vet Kasey Musgraves starts big at # 2 with Same Trailer Different Park while Imagine Dragons, P!nk and the Les Miserables soundtrack returns to the upper frame. Bon Jovi is Back on Top of the Billboard Charts

bonjovi80′s rock icons Bon Jovi just don’t know how to quit. This fantastic band lands their 5th # 1 album on the Billboard 200 Chart with their new release, What About Now, which got an added boost from their appearance on last week’s American Idol. The group hold off a bunch of new releases from Eric Clapton, Dave Grohl, Mindless Behavior and David Bowie who grabs his highest charting album (EVER!) with his new one The Next Day which debuts in the runner-up spot. He just released the fantastic new video for the second single “Mirrors” and his third album, The 20/20 Experience, hit stores and digital outlets yesterday. M_JoshGrobanArtwork“Popera” crooner and a former Grammy nominee Josh Groban grabbed his third # 1 album this week as his fifth release, All That Echoes, debuted on top with 145,000 copies on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart. That easily held off new releases from Tim McGraw, rock bands Red and Coheed & Cambria and the latest Now! compilation. Watch for a big shake up next week with the Grammy Awards causing a lot of albums to get big boosts like Album of the Year winners Mumford & Sons who already climb back up four notches. The clip featuring Jay Z is for the first single from his new album, The 20/20 Experience, which hits stores on March 19th. “Suit” is already JT’s 12th top ten hit as a solo artist and rebounds up the Billboard Hot 100 to # 8 today. The Grammy Awards Spread the Love on a Very fun. Night

The 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards - ShowTonight’s Grammy Awards were filled with some great performances, some surprise winners and a really happy Kelly Clarkson. No one artist dominated the night as the love was spread out with wins for all the big nominees. In the big 4 categories, Gotye picked up Record of the Year for “Somebody that I Used to Know” (along with 2 other awards) and Mumford & Sons won Album of the Year (Babel) while fun. grabbed Song of the Year for “We Are Young” and Best New Artist. Other winners included Adele, Frank Ocean, Carrie Underwood, Jay Z, Beyonce, The Black Keys, Zac Brown Band, and an overjoyed Clarkson who took home Pop Album and had the best speech of the night. She also gave arguably the best performance with her brilliant tribute to Carole King and the late Patti Page… Other standout performances came from Justin Timberlake, Bruno Mars with Sting, Damian and Ziggy Marley, The Lumineers, Elton John & Ed Sheerhan, and the aforementioned Underwood.
