Glee sings with the People’s Choice Awards

November 8, 2011

Glee is having a critically resurgent season this fall and tonight is their big “First Time” episode featuring a couple of big “firsts” in the romantic lives of their couples Kurt (Chris Colfer) & Blaine (Darren Criss) and Rachel (Lea Michelle) and Finn (Cory Monteith). So, it’s fitting that today the show has more to celebrate as it lead this morning’s People’s Choice Award nominations garnering 7 nods including Favorite Comedy and bids for stars Colfer, Monteith, Michelle, Jane Lynch and guest stars Kristin Chenowith and Gwyneth Paltrow. We’ll see how the show fares when the awards are handed out on CBS on January 11th, 2012 live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles…. Leading the music nominees were the ladies with Katy Perry, Beyonce, Adele, Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga all garnering multiple nods. On the movie side, The Help, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Bridesmaids and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 led the charge. One interesting note came with the four nominations for Ryan Reynolds despite all of his movies tanking this year…. To vote for your favorites, head to the People’s Choice site here and check out all the nominees below.

Glee 3D is coming to your town!

July 15, 2011

This morning Glee picked up 12 big Emmy nominations including Comedy Series, Supporting Actress (last year’s winner Jane Lynch), Supporting Actor (Golden Globe winner Chris Colfer) and Guest Actress contenders Gwyneth Paltrow (Holly), Kristen Chenowith (April) and perhaps the nicest person in show business Dot Marie Jones who plays Coach Biest…. But award nominations are old hat for this phenom. These days the show is massive worldwide music money-making machine, and now that train is headed to your hometown… in 3D. You see, the Glee Live! concert tour that hit cities across the nation earlier this summer was filmed and is now a concert movie set to hit theatres on August 12th. Having gone to the concert in May, I can tell you it was an amazing show and featured all the student actors on the show including Darren Criss (Blaine) and the Warblers. Every number was wonderful and I’m sure it will be even more spectacular on the big screen. So, get ready to hit theatres next month with Glee and check out the first trailer for Glee 3D below.

The Best of GLEE’s Fleetwood Mac Attack

May 5, 2011

Last night on a hilarious and surprisingly emotional episode of Glee,we got down to the mystery of Sam (Chord Overstreet) and his family plus we had the return of Emmy winner Kristen Chenowith’s April who was working on a hopeful and hysterical Broadway show about her life with Mr. Shu (Emmy nominee Matthew Morrison). However, the big news of the episode was the Glee club having a Fleetwood Mac attack as they covered several songs from the super group’s iconic album Rumours. Take a look at my three favorites from last night below.

Glee ”Songbird” by Santana (Naya Rivera)

Glee “Go Your Own Way”- Rachel (Lea Michelle)

Glee Cast “Don’t Stop”

SPOILER ALERT~ The GLEE season premiere songs!

September 8, 2010

The return of Glee is just 13 days away and the clues about the new season just keep trickling in. We know that John Stamos is joining the cast as Emma’s (Jayma Mays) dentist and new love interest and that pop star Charice and newcomer Chord Overstreet will show up as well. Plus we should see the returns of Idina Menzel and Emmy nominee Kristin Chenowith sometime during the season and Emmy nominee Mike O’ Malley (Kurt’s father) has been made a series regular along with Heather Morris (Brittany) & Naya Rivera (Santana). We will also see a Britney Spears tribute episode on Sept 28 and Broadway stud Cheyenne Jackson (Xanadu, Finian’s Rainbow) will guest as the new rival choir director. Along with all of that, the songs the cast will sing in the season premiere have been leaked. Don’t read any further if you don’t want to know…. But if you do, here they are!

Glee Season Premiere (9/21) songs…

“Empire State of Mind” – Jay Z & Alicia Keys (a # 1 smash from earlier this year)
“Telephone”- Lady Gaga & Beyonce (the top 5 smash and # 1 pop hit from earlier this year)
“Billionaire”- Travis McCoy w/Bruno Mars (the recent top 5 hit)
“Every Rose Has It’s Thorn”- Poison (the # 1 smash from 1989)
“What I Did For Love” (from the classic Tony winning musical A Chorus Line)
“Listen”- Beyonce (the Oscar nominated song from the film version of Dreamgirls)
“Getting to Know You” (from the classic musical The King and I)

There’s your first look at the new music from Glee. Seems like they’re getting a little more current with song selections to go along with our musical theatre and 80′s faves. Who else is Gleeking out?! Watch the new season of Glee Tuesdays on Fox beginning 9/21!

GLEE tops the charts! (and some secrets from tonight’s show)

April 27, 2010

Looks like Glee really channelled the power of Madonna last week as sales for their latest collection, Glee-The Power of Madonna, are on tap to top 120,000 units and hit # 1 on the Billboard Album charts. This would give the Glee kids their first # 1 album following their previous high peak at # 3 with Season One: Volume 2. Both of their prior collections have gone gold and their single sales for tracks like “Don’t Stop Believin” and “Somebody to Love” are huge. Congratulations Glee! For more on their sales feats, go to Billboard.com here.

In other Glee news, tonight is a wonderful all new episode that focuses on the Kurt (Chris Colfer) and Mercedes (Amber Riley) storylines plus the return of Kristen Chenowith’s boozy April. I saw it at a special SAG screening this past weekend and I can tell you it’s a wonderful and hilarious episode. Colfer, Riley and Chenowith should all submit it for Emmy consideration. Chris also did a Q & A after the episode screening and he is incredibly gracious, smart, funny and wise beyond his years. I don’t want to spoil if for you, so I just implore you to watch it instead. Ok, I can’t help it~  scroll all the way down for a list of the songs they perform tonight… Check out the special preview clips below and pick up all your Glee music at digital outlets now.
