Second only to Madonna in terms of massively successful dance divas, Kylie Minogue has had an astonishing career making our bootys shake. From her first hits in the late 80′s like “The Locomotion” to her massive U.S. comeback with “Can’t Get You Outta My Head”, Minogue has continued to make wonderful dance pop music that brings a smile to your face and can’t help but make you move. Now, she’s back with a brand new single from her forthcoming Greatest Hits album due here in the States in June. It’s called “Time Bomb” and it’s a wonderful sonic explosion indeed. Check out the great new track, which is available at iTunes now, and enjoy the brand new video below.
Is Kris Allen the next big dance club star???? I know it sounds like a silly question, but it could happen. With the just released remix of his new single, “Vision of Love”, we could see him flying up the dance charts alongside Madonna and Rihanna. He wouldn’t be the first American Idol to scale this chart as Jennifer Hudson, Kimberly Caldwell, Fantasia and Adam Lambert have all had big club hits while season 2′s Kimberley Locke has become an official club diva with # 1 dance hits like “Change” and “Fall”. Our first Idol, Kelly Clarkson, has also had tons of dance hits with remixes of her pop smashes and is currently in the top 15 of the dance chart with “Stronger”. So, Allen would fit in nicely. It’s just a strange fit for this soulful rocker whose music leans more towards John Mayer than Kylie Minogue. But take a listen to this awesome remix below and I doubt you can deny his grooves. If this is a taste of his new music, he may have a second chance at success with his sophomore album due this spring. (And yes, that pits him against Lambert again whose second disc is due in March. We’ll see if he can better his last showing which had his debut selling around 300,000 copies compared to Lambert’s 800,000 copies). For more on Allen’s new music, head to his site hereand let me know if you love his dance mix below.

And check this great remix of her latest hit from Aphrodite, “Better Than Today” which is flying up the dance charts.
Pop dance starlet Kylie Minogueis back with the second single off her latest and arguably best album, Aphrodite. The record is a smash across the globe, will likely be a Grammy Best Dance Album contender, and is at least doing better than her last collection in the states. (She’s a previous Grammy winner for “Come into My World”). The first single, “All the Lovers”, topped our dance charts and I’m betting her new one, “Get Outta My Way” will do the same. It’s fabulous and gaytastic, so you know the clubs will go nuts for it. Check out her brand spankin’ new video below and for more on Kylie, click here.
So, here in LA, it finally feels like summer with some seriously hot temperatures after a very mild June and July. And in honor of this renewed summer sun, I’ve got another playlist of the songs I’m loving right now. Like my previous list, Kylie Minogue, Robyn, Katy Perry and The Scissor Sisters appear again. But really, they’re latest releases are so good, how could they not show up? So, take a look, download them on iTunes and enjoy the weekend!
Jason’s Late Summer Songs Playlist…
12. Kelly Rolwand “Rose Colored Glasses” (The second release from her upcoming album is more pop influenced than her last dance smash “Commander”, but just as good. And this time there’s a message!)
11. Flo Rida & David Guetta “Club Can’t Handle Me” (This club jammer from Step Up 3 may be generic, but it simply won’t be denied)
10. Mika vs. RedOne “Kick Ass” (Ok, so, this song came out in the spring along with the film it’s from, Kick Ass. However with the film just hitting dvd, it’s time to enjoy it yet again!)
9 Taio Cruz “Dynamite” (Proving he’s not a one hit wonder, Cruz comes back with another delectable dance ditty like his first # 1 “Break Your Heart)”
8. “Crossfire” -Brandon Flowers (The Killers frontman’s first solo single is simply awesome and has a killer video with Charlize Theron to boot!)
7. “Something ‘Bout Love”- David Archuleta (Go ahead, giggle all you want, but I love Archie’s new single from his upcoming sophomore album. It’s some sugary good pop ear candy)
6. Robyn “Hang With Me” (Why oh why isn’t this Swedish sensation a huge star? Every one of her songs is brilliant including her latest bid for a stateside hit)
5. Scissor Sisters “Any Which Way” (The second single from the group’s NightWork album is a downright dirty disco dancin’ electro glam good time!)
4. Christina Aguilera “You Lost Me” ~Hex Hector & Max Quayle Remix (This ballad has been given new life in this amazing remix that has returned Xtina to the top of the dance charts)
3. Erika Jayne “Pretty Mess” (This club diva is everything Ke$ha wishes should could be and this song is better than all of that trashy messes hits)
2. Katy Perry “Teenage Dream” (This is the summer of Perry and we are just along for the ride. Mega-smash # 2 from her second album could become as big as the first “California Gurls”) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=98WtmW-lfeE
1. Kylie Minogue “Get Outta My Way” (All hail Kylie! Her new album, Aphrodite, is chock full of hits like “All the Lovers” and now her latest bid for world domination)

Eminem just keeps on crushing the competition as he spends a third week on top of the Billboard 200 chart with his latest album, Recovery as it sells another 229,000 copies bringing its total to around 1.3 million. At this rate it’s on the way to challenging Lady Antebellum’sNeed You Now as the top-selling album of the year. Stay Tuned. His latest opponents for the top spot came up short as Outkast rapper Big Boi grabbed the highest debut for his solo release Sir Lucious Left Foot…The Son of Chico Dusty at # 3. Enrique Iglesias was the next highest debut with Euphoria at # 10. His new collection includes his first big hit since 2002′s “Escape” with his collaboration with Pitbull “I Like It”. Further down the chart we find debuts from Bret Michaels and his new country rock record Custom Built and dance diva Kylie Minogue with her fantastic new release Aphrodite at # 19 her highest charting album since 2002′s Fever hit # 3. For all the charts, click Billboard here. And check out the top ten below.

Every summer, certain songs get you in the mood and really reflect everything wonderful about this time of year. I did a prior post on Billboard magazine’s 30 Best Summer songs. Now, I’m doing my own variation on a summer songs list. This top 10 just includes the songs I’m loving the most this summer. They’re guaranteed to make you smile and get up and groove. Take a look, click the links and enjoy my favorite sounds of summer 2010.
10. “Dancing on My Own”- Robyn… the Swedish pop star who hit it big in the US in the late 90′s has continued to produce smashes all across Europe over the last decade. Perhaps this latest Eurodance pop track with bubbly synths and infectious melodies will return her to our charts.
9. “If I Had You”- Adam Lambert… Glambert’s latest top 40 hit is one of my fave tracks on his fantastic debut album and takes him straight to the dance floor and proves that he is indeed the male Lady Gaga. Oh, and that’s a good thing. The video is fab too.
8. “Not Myself Tonight”- Christina Aguilera… while I love the new single, the ballad “You Lost Me”, I’m still enamored with this fantastic dance track from her latest album, Bionic. Check out the awesome remixes too like this one from Chus & Ceballos.
7. “Acapella”- Kelis… now, this dance smash from the “Milkshake” singer has been out for a bit, but I still can’t get it out of my head, and the video is sick!
5. “Beautiful Monster”- Ne Yo… setting the dance floor on fire with another smash in the vein of his hit “Closer”, I deny you to not succumb to this electro-pop thumper.
4. “California Gurls”- Katy Perry w/Snoop Dogg… easily the anthem of the summer, this smash may even become the biggest song of the year. It’s been on top of the pop charts for a month and now tops the adult top 40 charts and is about to hit # 1 on the dance charts. Seriously, you know you love it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CwE-SLnLkqY
3. “Fire with Fire”- The Scissor Sisters… with their first single in 3 years, the Sisters are back with an amazing pop record from their brand new album, the sexy dirty funky NightWork.
2. “Release Me”- Agnes… another Swedish import is ruling the dance charts as Agnes storms America with this immediately catchy and sassy track. Love it, love her!
1. Kelly Rowland “Commander“… it’s Kelly’s world on the dance floor and we are just along for the ride. The Destiny’s Child singer continues her ascension to dance diva status after last year’s worldwide smash “When Love Takes Over” with this undeniable club anthem, another collaboration with superstar dj and musician David Guetta.
And here are a few songs I’d love to give an honorable mention to…. “Misery”- Maroon 5, “Undo It”- Carrie Underwood, “Clap Your Hands” – Sia, “Dynamite”- Taio Cruz, and “Feels Like Home”- Meck ft. Dino(yes, that’s the song that you hear on Madonna’sSticky and Sweet Tour behind “Like a Prayer”).
One of my favorite bands ever, the Scissor Sisters, are back with their much-anticipated new album Night Work which drops next Tuesday 6/29. They’re doing a bunch of press for it, watching the lead single “Fire With Fire” fly up the dance charts in the U.S. and explode all over Europe. Now, they’re even taking time to pay homage to Kylie Minogue as they do press for the BBC. Check out this great video of the Sisters’ countrified version of Kylie’s current smash “All the Lovers”. It’s not the first time they’ve been linked to Kylie either. If you recall the Sisters’ lead singer Jake Shears cowrote Kylie’s 2007 hit “I Believe in You”from her greatest hits album. . Check out Kylie and the Scissor Sisters versions below and see which one you like better. For more on the Scissor Sisters new record, click here.
