My Short Film “the things i cannot change” comes to Los Angeles this Week!

October 22, 2012

After playing cities like Austin, TX and New York, NY, the first short film I co-produced and co-starred in, the things i cannot change, is coming home to Los Angeles. Our dramatic film will be playing the Reel Recovery Film Festival this Saturday October 27th at 3:30pm in the “Shorts on a Saturday Afternoon Program 2″. I am beyond thrilled and honored to be a part of this festival that focuses on addiction, alcoholism and recovery from those issues. It’s a perfect fit for our film as it explores addiction and how it affects two people picking up the pieces from a friend’s death by overdose.
the things i cannot change was written and directed by Chris Phillips who adapted the short from a scene in his GLAAD nominated play revolver. Phillips co-produces the film alongside myself and Cory Schneider who also stars in the film. things focuses on the lives of a recently deceased drug addict’s ex-lover Noah (Jason Boegh) and best friend Patrick (Cory Schneider) who unexpectedly collide for a heated confrontation. Old grievances are aired and blame is tossed about like a weapon as the two come to grips with losing the man they both loved…. things also features new music from the supremely talented singer/songwriter Michael Patrick Coughlin including his brilliant song composed for the film “Some Things”.

I hope you can come and see our little film that could. It’s a very personal film and one we are quite proud of. Take a look at all of the screening information below and head to the Reel Recovery Film Festival site here for more info and tickets. (We are also playing the Reel Recovery Film Festival in Fort Lauderdale next month if you are in Florida!)
Thanks so much!

“Pieces” comes to New York City

August 8, 2012

Hey all my New York based friends and readers, this one is for you. This weekend my dear friend Chris Phillips brand new play Pieces makes its NYC debut at the New York International Fringe Festival. The play is a great drama and murder mystery rolled into one as a powerful gay Hollywood producer is murdered and a damaged young man is accused of the crime while being defended by an ambitious and conflicted Public Defender. This new work examines the fragmentation of culture and more specifically gay culture and the struggles individuals have with their own identities. It’s a wonderful, searing and provocative piece that first played in Los Angeles in April. I’m so proud of Chris and my other dear friend Brian Zimmer who directed the show. I urge all of you to get out and see it asap. Plus, you will be treated to some great performances by a cast including Paolo Andino, Jonathan Gibson, Chris Salvatore and the tremendous Joe Briggs and Nina Millin who play a reporter working on the murder story and the Prosecutor for the trial. I have to give special props to those last two actors who I thought stole the show when I saw it this Spring. For more on the show, head here. For more on the NYC Fringe Festival, head here. And check out the performance information below. Congrats on Pieces everyone!

Shameless Self Promotion~ “Sammy Kingsford: Manager to the Stars”!

May 7, 2012

Hey readers,
I’m at it again, shamelessly self promoting my latest project. This time it’s the first episode of my hilarious new mockumentary web series Sammy Kingsford: Manager to the Stars. This hysterical comedy was created by the immensely talented Rick Simone who also plays the title character, a glamorous talent manager named Sammy Kingsford who wants to restore Hollywood to its glory days. I play his incredibly optimistic and enthusiastic assistant Matthew St. Peters (who is also one of Sammy’s clients). In upcoming episodes, Sammy and Matthew will be searching for new talent, working to make them big stars, and we will also look into Sammy and Matthew’s fascinatingly funny personal lives. Check out the first episode below. I can’t tell you how excited I am for this one. It’s such a riot and I’m trilled to be working with Simone again who I did the GLAAD nominated play Revolver with almost two years ago. Enjoy Sammy Kingsford, “like” it on YouTube and stay tuned for more episodes. Thanks!!!

And P.S.- watch for me on ABC’s Scandal season finale on May 17th and my latest short film Dirty Talk due later this summer.

REVOLVER:
Like the six barrels in its titular weapon, revolver circles through six scenes displaying the aftermath of emotional and physical violence. Set in the gun-shaped city of West Hollywood and featuring characters such as a closeted movie star, a former drug addict, hate-crime victim Matthew Shepard, and even Jesus Christ and Judas Iscariot, revolver examines the nature of forgiveness and asks what, if anything is unforgivable.
