This Weekend’s Must See~ the Final Weekend of “The People vs. Friar Laurence”!

August 24, 2012

This weekend marks the final three performances of the hilarious new musical comedy, The People vs. Friar Laurence- The Man Who Killed Romeo and Juliet at the Whitefire Theatre in Sherman Oaks. I highly recommend you get out and see this hysterical musical that is a twisted and wacky version of the classic Romeo + Juliet where we find Friar Laurence being interrogated for the murders of the title characters. People stars my dear friend and Sammy Kingsford: Manager to the Stars costar Rick Simone as Tybalt along with a great cast including Billy Giampaolo as Friar Laurence, Alex Tordi as Romeo and Bethany Regan as Juliet. Take a look at all the show and cast info below plus some pictures from this great show. Then, head to www.iotatheatrecompany.com or brown paper tickets to get your seats to The People vs. Friar Laurence. Enjoy

The People Vs. Friar Laurence: The Man Who Killed Romeo and Juliet

Written by Ron West and Phil Swann, The People vs Friar Laurence is a hilarious musical comedy rendition starring the Friar of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. Friar Laurence is behind bars and charged with the murder of the two young lovers. The twisted trial progresses into a Vaudeville-like mayhem in the race to determine the plot behind the ultimate blame for Romeo and Juliet’s demise at the feet of Friar Laurence. The fast-moving freight train of characters and non-stop Shakespearean spoof of adventure takes the audience on a musical journey of love, confusion and chaos.

Episode 3 of “Sammy Kingsford: Manager to the Stars” is Here!

August 5, 2012

The wait is over. The third episode of the hilarious comedic mockumnetary series I’m doing, Sammy Kingsford: Manager to the Stars, just hit the web…. In this latest installment, Hollywood manager Sammy (the high-larious Rick Simone) and his faithful assistant Matthew (me, Jason Boegh) meet up with Sammy’s old friend Michael Orland (of American Idol fame) and his former “flame” and cabaret sensation The Lovely Carol. They reminisce about Hollywood’s glamorous golden days and sing a few tunes even. Check it out below and, if you missed the first two episodes (featuring the “pilot” and episode 2 where Sammy and Matthew find new acting clients, head to youtube here.)

Sammy Kingsford: Manager to the Stars (Episode 3)

Episode 3 of “Sammy Kingsford” is Coming…

August 2, 2012

I’ve already shared with ya’ll the two previous episodes of my hilarious new mockumentary web series Sammy Kingsford: Manager to the Stars, and now the third episode is almost ready. This time Sammy (Rick Simone) and his faithful assistant (me, Jason Boegh) have a kiki (ahem, visit) with Sammy’s old “flame” The Lovely Carol and American Idol maestro Michael Orland. Check back here later this week for the full episode, but check out a picture from the Sammy shoot below….

My Belated So You Think You Can Dance Recap…

July 13, 2012

So, my life has become a little busy and I’ve been unable to blog with as much regularity as I like. While it’s good because that means I’m working on lots of other great projects like the two web series I’m doing, Sammy Kingsford: Manager to the Stars and The Adventures of Velvet Prozak and my short film Dirty Talk, it’s a little bit of a bummer because I am not giving you my great So You Think You Can Dance recaps on time! … Alas, I apologize and am giving you a brief quick wrap today… This year the show is looking for both a guy and girl winner and will only be airing once a week with eliminations at the end of the show as chosen by the judges after America votes. The judges will choose between America’s lowest vote getters and next week’s first elimination will say goodbye to two guys and two girls… So, who’s in danger? Let’s rank the performances…

SYTYCD Quick Wrap Rankings from 7/11/13

1. Audrey & Matthew- Contemporary: this routine by Travis Wall was simply stunning.
2. Lindsay & Cole- Paso Doble: I agree with Mary this might have been the best Paso ever on the show and Cole destroyed it!
3. Tiffany & George- Contemporary: a beautiful and romantic piece by Sonya
4. Janelle & Dareian- African Jazz- totally awesome… these two could end up being a power couple
5. Amelia & Will- Hip Hop (Character Pop): easily one of the most entertaining of the night, even if it seemed like easy choreography. And I didn’t despise her as much as usual!
6. Alexa & Daniel- Jazz: while American may not understand this number, these two are incredible technicians and Daniel is adorbs.
7. Eliana & Cyrus- Broadway: sure it was very entertaining but there wasn’t much skill on display if you ask me. Tyce totally made it easy for Cyrus… .Eliana is brilliant though.
8. Witney & Chehon- Samba: she totally schooled him in this number, but I hope his hotness keeps him in contention.
9. Amber & Nick- Vienesse Waltz: it was nice, but forgettable in the end
10. Janaya & Brandon- Hip Hop: I appreciated this attempt at a relationship in dire straits due to alcoholism, but it just didn’t quite connect the way it could’ve.

Who’s in Danger?…. My Predictions~

Bottom 3 Girls: Janaya, Amber, Alexa (maybe Amelia)
Bottom 3 Guys: Nick, Brandon, Chehon (maybe Daniel)
Going Home: Janaya, Amber & Nick, Brandon

So, there ya have it. My first quick take on this season’s So You Think You Can Dance. Watch the show next week for the first eliminations. Who are your favorites and will they make it? My current favorites are Matthew, Eliana, Daniel and Janelle. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for them next week on SYTYCD Wednesday on Fox. And P.S. how much have we missed the brilliant and beautiful host of SYTYCD Cat Deeley. She better get another Emmy nomination next week. I’m just sayin’!

And here’s Audrey & Matthew’s brilliant Travis Wall contemporary piece. Enjoy.

Shameless Self Promotion Again~ It’s Episode 2 of “Sammy Kingsford: Manager to the Stars”!

June 6, 2012

A few weeks ago, I shared with you the first episode of the hilarious new web series I’m doing, Sammy Kingsford: Manager to the Stars, and now it’s time for some more Sammy. Check out episode 2 of our hysterical show below. This time, Sammy (played by series creator Rick Simone) and his trusted assistant Matthew (yours truly, Jason Boegh) are looking to sign up some new clients. The goofy actors hoping Sammy will represent them are played by a great and very funny set of newcomers to the series including Ren Casey, Nicholas Harsin, Lara Hughes, Thom Adcox, and Keri Blunt. Watch the clip and “like” it on youtube too! Then, check back here for more episodes and news about Sammy Kingsford: Manager to the Stars!

Shameless Self Promotion~ Catch me on “Scandal”!

May 16, 2012

Hey readers,
I’ve got another one for you. After recent posts about my appearances in the web series The Adventures of Velvet Prozak and Sammy Kingsford: Manager to the Stars, I’m here to promote myself on a show ya’ll have probably heard of, ABC’s Scandal. Check out my small but I’m sure brilliant appearance as a Georgia reporter berating the President (Tony Goldwyn) about his alleged affair. Don’t blink or you could miss me. It was incredibly fun to shoot the show where I was finally doing something other than a comedy (but oh I do love comedy), and everyone on set was so nice. Mr. Goldwyn, who you probably remember best as the villain in Ghost but is also an accomplished film director (Conviction) and Broadway star (I saw him in the wonderful revival of Promises Promises a couple years ago), was wonderful to work with and the episode is a really juicy one. I’m thrilled the show was picked up for season 2 because you are so gonna want to find out what happens to Olivia Pope (the gorgeous and talented Kerry Washington) and her cohorts along with the scandal surrounding the murder of Amanda Tanner. It’s another fantastic show from Grey’s Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes and I hope it gets some Emmy recognition. I have to give a special shout out to Jeff Perry for his brilliant portrayal of the smart and scheming Chief of Staff Cyrus Been. He had better get an Emmy nomination! … Anywho, enough of my babbling, check out the season finale of Scandal this Thursday on ABC at 10pm. Watch for me and enjoy this brilliant show!

Shameless Self Promotion~ “Sammy Kingsford: Manager to the Stars”!

May 7, 2012

Hey readers,
I’m at it again, shamelessly self promoting my latest project. This time it’s the first episode of my hilarious new mockumentary web series Sammy Kingsford: Manager to the Stars. This hysterical comedy was created by the immensely talented Rick Simone who also plays the title character, a glamorous talent manager named Sammy Kingsford who wants to restore Hollywood to its glory days. I play his incredibly optimistic and enthusiastic assistant Matthew St. Peters (who is also one of Sammy’s clients). In upcoming episodes, Sammy and Matthew will be searching for new talent, working to make them big stars, and we will also look into Sammy and Matthew’s fascinatingly funny personal lives. Check out the first episode below. I can’t tell you how excited I am for this one. It’s such a riot and I’m trilled to be working with Simone again who I did the GLAAD nominated play Revolver with almost two years ago. Enjoy Sammy Kingsford, “like” it on YouTube and stay tuned for more episodes. Thanks!!!
Jason Boegh
