We’ve got a new “Worst” and his name is Big Mike…

With Siobhan Magnus’s departure on American Idol last night, it meant the folks at “Vote for the Worst” had to quickly brainstorm for a new contender to champion as their choice for the worst of the still remaining Idol contestants. Apparently Big Mike’s faux bravado, chest pumping antics, irritable arrogance and supersized Velveeta cheesiness was just the recipe they were looking for. While I would’ve suggested teen elf Aaron or boring hair model Casey, VFTW took their own path ignoring the fact that Mike, while obnoxious, can sang! Oh well. We’ll see if it has an impact because after choosing to promote Siobhan just last week, she’s already going home. I bet the folks at VFTW are wondering where a Taylor Hicks is when you need one. IDOL RESULTS~ The Sounds of Shania Silence Siobhan

I have to say I was a little shocked to see our favorite quirky little thing Siobhan Magnus get the boot last night on American Idol. I loved her individuality and her unique spirit. However, her lack of musical identity and inability to really know how to handle her musical gift did her in on a night when her competitors rose to the occasion on the Twain express. In a shockingly good performance show, American Idol took on the music of country pop queen Shania Twain, and turned in the best competition night yet. Idol’s Siobhan is the new “Worst”?

Teflon Tim finally got the boot this week on American Idol which means Vote for the Worst had to pick a new singer to be their kicking post. That lucky contestant is the increasingly inconsistent and entirely too chatty Siobhan Magnus. While I would’ve chosen the boring Casey or arrogant Mike or even elfish Aaron over Siobhan, she does make an interesting and fun choice.VFTW campaigns for the worst singer in the competition to try to get America to vote for them and keep those Sanjaya messes on the program. If it means people vote to keep her around longer than those other guys, I’m all for it. She has been great at times (“Paint it Black”), so the potential is there. Let’s just hope she avoids another train wreck like “Through the Fire.” Check out Siobhan’s latest inconsistent performance of Whitney and Mariah’s “When You Believe” below, and let me know if you think Vote for the Worst picked the right “worst” singer to champion for the remainder of this season’s Idol.

American Idol Rocks the Rolling Stones right!

Just like the Beatles night did back in season 7, a night of classic rock music from an iconic band helped American Idol finally find its way back. The top 12 hit the big stage for the first time tonight with a renewed sense of competition that showed that most of them are in it to win it. That competitive spirit brought us a new front runner in Siobhan and a shockingly good performance from Aaron. Here’s my full take from my Limewire Music Blog:
