The CW gets all Dramatic with its 2012 Fall Schedule

May 17, 2012

First, here’s news some of you might not know… The CW is, indeed, still on the air. Despite anemic ratings for many of its shows, the network keeps chugging along and announced its new fall schedule today that is heavy on new dramas in the hopes of another breakout hit like The Vampire Diaries. To that end, they have added a superhero drama Arrow starring super hottie Stephen Amell (Private Practice), an update of Beauty and the Beast starring Smallville‘s Kristen Kreuk, a new soap medical series Emily Owens M.D. starring Mamie Gummar (The Good Wife) who is awesome (and yes, she’s also Meryl Streep‘s daughter), and a Sex and the City prequel series called The Carrie Diaries. That show will join the lineup at midseason along with a thriller called Cult starring Prison Break’s Robert Knepper.… The other big moves for the network include relocating Supernatural to Wednesdays, 90210 to Mondays, Hart of Dixie to Tuesdays and the gasping for air reality show America’s Next Top Model to Fridays…. Getting the boot are Ringer and The Secret Circle after just one season while One Tree Hill finally finished its long 9 season run earlier this year… For more on these shows and the CW, head to Deadline Hollywood here and check out their new schedule below.

General Hospital, Young & Restless and Days of Our Lives lead the Daytime Emmy nominations

May 10, 2012

This morning, the nominations for the 39th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards were announced and General Hospital led the way with a big 23 nominations. Next in line were The Young and the Restless with 16 and my personal favorite, Days of Our Lives with 15. Among Days nods were first time bids for long time soap vet Matthew Ashford (Jack) and Shelly Hening (Stephanie) who left the show early last year and now stars on CW’s The Secret Circle. Picking up her 8th nod was Crystal Chappell (Carly) who has since departed the show as well while Molly Burnett (Melanie) grabbed her second nod and breakout star Chandler Massey (Will) whose coming out storyline helped grab him a second consecutive nod. I also have to give a shout out to two of my friends who earned nods for their work on Days: Glen Alen for Makeup and Christopher Whitesell for Writing. Congrats Days folks! … Ok, enough gushing about Days, take a look at all the nominees in the big categories below and for the full list and info on the show, head here.
