First Listen~ Justin Timberlake “Suit & Tie”

January 14, 2013

justin-timberlake-suit-and-tieLately, actor/singer/writer/producer/newlywed Justin Timberlake has been making a name for himself as a movie star in films both good (The Social Network) and bad (The Trouble with the Curve), but many of his fans have been wondering about his latent music career. Well, wait no more. The Grammy winner just released his first new single in ages as the mid tempo smooth R& B track “Suit & Tie” featuring Jay Z just hit the web. It’s the first new song from his upcoming album The 20/20 Experience which is only his third solo album and his first since 2006. After a quick listen to the track, I think JT has another hit on his hands. However, it also leaves me wondering when he turned into CeeLo Green? … But what do you think? Check it out below and let me know if you’re excited about more music from JT.

Take a Look at Netflix’s First Drama Series “House of Cards”

November 15, 2012

Netflix is getting into the original programming game in a big way. Along with streaming your favorite movies and tv shows, the service premieres its first drama series House of Cards in February. The political thriller stars Oscar winner Kevin Spacey as a U.S. Congressman hell-bent on conquering Washington D.C. Golden Globe and SAG Award nominee Robin Wright plays his wife while SAG nominees Kate Mara (Brokeback Mountain) and Corey Stoll (Midnight in Paris) co-star. The series, directed by Oscar nominee David Fincher (The Social Network), will stream all 13 episodes beginning on February 1st and judging from the trailer, Cards looks pretty fantastic. I expect it to make a big splash for Netflix as well as factoring into the Emmy race in September. Take a look at the trailer below and see if you want to play with this deck of Cards

Two Times the Timberlake

March 18, 2011

Grammy winning pop star turned A-List actor Justin Timberlake (The Social Network) is about to take over your summer. The Emmy winning performer (Saturday Night Live) has 2 big summer comedies headed your way and both have the makings of big hits. First hitting theatres is Bad Teacher which features Cameron Diaz as the titular character in what looks like her funniest performance in ages. Timberlake shows up as a new teacher who sparks her interest and possibly helps her turn around her bad behavior. I’m betting this wacky comedy could be the big surprise hit of the summer when it hits theatres on June 24th… A month later Justin returns to the silver screen in his first romantic comedy opposite recent Golden Globe nominee Mila Kunis (Black Swan) in Friends with Benefits. Ok, sure, the film looks and sounds a whole lot like the recent Natalie Portman/Ashton Kucther movie No Strings Attached. But, I say there’s one big difference. This one actually looks funny. Plus, it gives us JT’s first big sex scene so swoon away people. You can check that one out on July 22nd…. Now, I wanna hear which one you’re more excited about. Watch trailers for both films below and enjoy two times the Timberlake!

February 28, 2011

Ok, I don’t know about you, but that was certainly one of the worst Oscar shows I’ve seen in decades. It was a big disappointment and rather boring. I’m actually so annoyed, I don’t even know if I want to do a recap of it. Inception also grabbed 4 awards and The Social Network nabbed 3…. My Big Bold Academy Award WINNER Predictions 2011

February 24, 2011

Ok, they’re finally here: my big bold Academy Award winner predictions… Now, as usual I’m giving you who I think will and should win…. This year, we have several strong races like The Kings Speech and The Social Network for Best Picture and Annette Bening v. Natalie Portman for Best Actress that could go down to the wire. In fact, the race for Best Director and Supporting Actress are seeming more and more unpredictable. Will there be a major surprise? Will The Kings Speech sweep? And will the little categories mess you up in your Oscar pool? (Um, they probably will unfortunately). Nonetheless, I’m making my educated guesses here and trying not to go with my heart. So, take a look at my thoughts below and watch the show on Sunday on ABC with your hosts former nominee Anne Hathaway and current Oscar nominee James Franco!

The Social Network picks up steam at the WGA Awards

February 6, 2011

After getting served by The King’s Speech at the PGA, DGA and SAG awards over the last few weeks, former Oscar front-runner, The Social Network,  picked up some needed awards steam winning the Best Adapted Screenplay honors at last night’s Writers Guild Awards. However, it comes with a catch. Due to some crazy guild awards, Speech was declared ineligible. Had it been able to compete, it would’ve been in the Original Screenplay category as well, so they both could’ve come out even. Instead, Inception took home that honor in a bit of a surprise beating out The Kids are Alright. On the TV side, Modern Family and Mad Men continued their winning ways. Take a look at all the winners below and head to the WGA website for more info.

Writers Guild Awards:

Original Screenplay: Inception (Christopher Nolan)
Adapted Screenplay: The Social Network (Aaron Sorkin)
Documentary: Inside Job
Drama Series: Mad Men
Drama Series Individual Episode: Mad Men (“The Chrysanthemum and the Sword”)
Comedy Series: Modern Family
Comedy Series Individual Episode: 30 Rock (“When It Rains It Pours”)
New Series: Boardwalk Empire
Daytime Drama: As the World Turns
TV Long Form Adaptation: The Pacific
TV Long Form Original: The Special Relationship
Comedy Variety Series: The Colbert Report

The King’s Speech upstages the Social Network at the DGA Awards!

January 30, 2011

Uh oh, The Social Network just took a nother hit in the chin, but not by The Fighter, instead it was clobbered by a King. For the second week in a row, The King’s Speech took out former Oscar front-runner The Social Network winning the Best Director honors at tonight’s DGA Awards following last week’s surprise win at the Producer’s Guild Awards. Speech director Tom Hooper was clearly surprised as Social‘s David Fincher has pretty much won every critics’ group directors prize and the Golden Globe. Does this mean we have a hot race for Best Director and Best Picture at the Oscars. I sure think so. We’ll see if Speech continues its roll tomorrow at the SAG Awards where I’m expecting it to two more trophies to its tally… Take a look at all of the film and television winners from tonight’s Director’s Guild Awards below.

DGA Award Winners~

Director Feature Film: Tom Hooper (The King’s Speech)

My Big Bold SAG Award Winner Predictions

January 28, 2011

Ok, enough with Oscar fever, who’s hungry for some SAG sweets?… yeah, I know that makes no sense, but I love me some alliteration, hehe… Anywho, the SAG Awards are this Sunday on TNT and it’s one of the last few big awards shows before the Oscars, and often, they signal a shift in awards voting (only the Independent Spirits and the BAFTAS are left after this). So, does this mean Annette Bening can stomp Natalie Portman in her toe shoe tracks? And can The King’s Speech steal the thunder from The Social Network? I say, yes they both can. Sure, I may be going out on a hopeful limb for Bening, but I think the large SAG voting body may not be as partial to the very divisive Black Swan as the critics groups were. So, we’ll see.
The SAG’s also honor the best in television and we could see some of my favorites like Dexter, Glee, Modern Family and Hot in Cleveland (which I’m appearing on February 9th by the way) take home the statue. So, check out my predictions below and watch the show live on Sunday night…. Also, send me a private email if you wanna know just who I voted for!
