On the latter list, Paramore nabs their first chart topper with their new self titled album which narrowly holds off the latest from Brad Paisley, Wheelhouse. Other top ten debuts this week come from Eric Church, Tyga, rockers Volbeat and Stone Sour. Falling down to # 3 after three weeks on top is Justin Timberlake with The 20/20 Experience, but he can take solace on the singles chart as “Mirrors” hits # 7 giving him two top ten singles from the disc. While this is only her 4th overall # 1, P!nk has had over ten # 1 Pop hits and Adult Pop hits… P!nk boots out Bruno Mars but will have to fend off some newcomers to the top-tier as the aforementioned Timberlake flies up to # 7 with hist twelfth top ten hit “Mirrors” just behind his other hit “Suit & Tie” and Demi Lovato‘s “Heart Attack” which charges into the top ten at # 10… For more on all the charts, head to Billboard here and check out the new top ten below.

Kelly is back on Top of the Singles Chart as Adele and Whitney Dominate the Billboard 200

February 29, 2012

The same three ladies who have been making a lot of noise over the past month continue to monopolize the pop charts again this week. Kelly Clarkson returns to the summit of Billboard’s Hot 100 singles chart while Adele and Whitney Houston dominate half of the top ten albums on the Billboard 200.
With a 22nd week on top, Adele’s 21 now is the longest running album at # 1 since Prince’s Purple Rain soundtrack in 1984/85 (he held for 24 weeks). She also is at # 7 with her debut album, 19. Occupying three spots in the top-tier is the late great Houston whose Greatest Hits holds at # 2 while The Bodyguard and Whitney Houston make massive gains. Those records climb with physical albums finally being delivered to retailers following her untimely passing. (Most of her sales for the past 2 weeks have been on the digital front). For more on the top albums, head to Billboard here and check out the new top ten with debuts by fun., Tyga, and Chiddy Bang below.

With the Grammy glow over, several tracks from Adele and Houston fall out of the top ten allowing a big jump for British boy band The Wanted with “Glad You Came”. (The Glee version of the single also debuts at # 90 this week featuring vocals from guest villain Grant Gustin and the Warblers). First Listen~ New Music from “Idol” stud Chris Richardson

January 10, 2012

Season 6 of American Idol was the second worst cycle of the series, if you ask me. The only worse year was season 9′s dreadful run (with winner and pop culture punchline Lee Dewyze)…. At least season 6 gave us a brief glimpse of the very talented Melinda Doolittle and a fine winner in Jordin Sparks who has had 4 top ten hits, a Grammy nomination and is currently shooting her film debut with the remake of Sparkle co-starring Whitney Houston. But that was about it until now as that season’s hottie, Chris Richardson, is readying his debut album. The Justin Timberlake sound alike recently was the featured vocalist on the R&B/hip hop hit “Far Away” by Tyga, and that led to his record deal with Cash Money records. The label, known mainly for hip hop artists is branching out with Richardson’s smooth R&B stylings as they have just released his sexy new single “In the Name of Love”. Check out the song below and watch for his debut album in the spring. For more on Chris, head to his website here.

New Summer “Idol” Music

June 28, 2011

In honor of American Idol season 7 winner David Cook releasing his sophomore album, This Loud Morning, today, I’ve decided it’s time to look at some hot new music from several Idols for your summer… Enjoy!

David Cook: his second album has garnered stronger reviews than the first and looks assured to debut in next week’s top ten on the Billboard Album charts. The first single “The Last Goodbye” has gone top 40 on Hot AC and top 30 on AC. However, I think this proposed second single “Fade Into Me” could really be huge. The lovely ballad already made a big impression on last week’s So You Think You Can Dance and is currently the biggest selling individual track off the album. Take a listen below.

Kellie Pickler: it may surprise some people, but this Southern belle has become a bona-fide country star with 6 top twenty country singles and over a million albums sold. The sixth place finisher from season five is readying her third album due this fall and the first single, “Tough” just hit the country top 40. And here it is…

Chris Richardson: Chris who? Well, he was the Timberlake-like hottie from season 6 who wound up in fifth place. He’s struggled to get his own solo career off the ground but has been writing and producing since he finished the show. Now, he’s finally gracing a hit song alongside rapper Tyga with the track “Far Away” which just went top 40 on the Rhythmic charts and is climbing up the Pop and R&B charts as well. See if you like it below.

Jennifer Hudson: the Oscar and Grammy winner couldn’t possibly be busier. She has several films in the pipeline (including the Oscar-bait biopic about Winnie Mandela, Winnie, due late this year), plus her ongoing job as a Weight Watchers spokeswoman and she’s cranking out hits off her second hit album, I Remember Me. The official second single just hit top 20 on the Adult R&B charts and is now top 30 on the R&B charts. Check out “No One Gonna Love You” below.

Carrie Underwood: the newlywed Grammy winning megastar recently had her first hit film with Soul Surfer and is hard at work on her fourth album due in the winter. In the meantime, she has another smash single with her current duet “Remind Me” with Brad Paisley off his This is Country Music album. The track just hit the top 15 on the Country Charts, and mark my words, it will become her 12th # 1 in a few weeks. Remind yourself of Carrie’s brilliance below:

And keep an eye out for the original Idol, Grammy winner Kelly Clarkson, who is releasing a new track in August with an album to follow in October (possibly early September). And of course, she’s just hit the top ten on the AC and Hot AC and the top 40 on the Pop charts with her former # 1 country smash “Don’t You Wanna Stay” with Jason Aldean…. Plus new albums are due from Idol’s season ten finalists Scotty McCreery (who has a top 20 country hit with “I Love You This Big”) and Lauren Alaina (who is climbing the country charts with “Like My Mother Does”) in November…. Plus, the girl who should’ve won Idol this season, Pia Toscano, is rumored to have an album out in November or December. And Adam Lambert, Kris Allen, Casey James, and Haley Reinhart are rumored to have releases due by the end of the year as well….
