Adele and Gaga continue to own the Sales Charts

Adele’s brilliant sophomore sensation, 21, lead the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart for a second week selling another 168,000 copies for a two-week total of 520,000. That makes her album the biggest selling record of 2011 in just two weeks. She overtakes Mumford & Sons who hold on in the top ten at # 3. There are three new debuts in the top ten from acts I’ve never heard of: Marsha Ambrose (who was apparently in an R&N group called Floetry~ that sorta rings a bell), punk rockers Dropkick Murphys and Aaron Lewis (whose apparently the lead singer of the rock band Staind. Oh, hey, they had a hit with “It’s Been Awhile” a few years back)…. Over on the digital singles sales chart, Lady Gaga’s smash “Born this Way” makes it four weeks in a row on top (and holds for a fourth week at # 1 on the Hot 100). The other big news on that chart is the debut of Britney Spears latest lackluster single “Til the World Ends”. If you thought “Hold it Against Me” was underwhelming, check out this one (posted below). It’s like a Ke$ha knockoff and, um, that’s BAD! For more on the charts, head to Billboard here.
