The Ladies Loom over the Pop Charts

In 2011, it’s been all about the girls on the pop charts as artists like Taylor Swift, Pink, Rihanna and Katy Perry have ruled the album and singles tallies. However, two ladies in particular have led the way, Adele and Lady Gaga. Adele has the biggest selling album of the year, 21, which holds at # 2 this week and she also has the # 1 song in the country for the fifth week in a row while Gaga has charted 6 songs this year including the longest running # 1, “Born This Way”. Gaga also holds on to the top spot on the Billboard Album charts again with her latest release, Born This Way, despite a big drop-off from last week’s record debut numbers. Things should get interesting next week as the two fight for the top of the albums chart and possibly the singles chart where Gaga’s latest “The Edge of Glory” is on the rise.
