Trey Songz and Taylor Swift Lead the Billboard Charts

R&B crooner Trey Songz grabs his first # 1 album on the Billboard 200 as his latest Chapter V debuts on top. He holds off other new releases from DJ Khaled at # 4, Owl City at # 7, and a Christian Band I’ve never heard of Tenth Avenue North land at #9. Take a look at the new top ten below which includes one conspicuous absence, Adele‘s 21 which falls out of the upper region of the chart after 78 consecutive weeks there (which puts her in a three way tie for the third longest run in the top ten alongside Michael Jackson and Def Leppard). For more on Adele’s run in the top ten and all the charts, head to Billboard here.

Top Ten Albums on the Billboard 200:
1. Chapter V- Trey Songz (debut)
2. Based on a T.R.U. Story- 2 Chainz (last week~ 1)
3. Now 43 Compilation- Various Artists (lw~ 2)
4. Kiss the Ring- DJ Khaled (debut)
5. Believe- Justin Bieber (lw~ 6)
6. Overexposed- Maroon 5 (lw~ 5)
7. The Midsummer Station- Owl City (debut)
8. God Forgives, I Don’t- Rick Ross (lw~ 3)
9. The Struggle- Tenth Avenue North (debut)
10. Up All Night- One Direction (lw~ 7)

Over on the Hot 100 Singles chart, Owl City is also making some noise as their single with Carly Rae Jepsen “Good Time” bounds into the top ten at # 9. That gives both artists their second top ten single (and Jepsen’s first “Call Me Maybe” is still hanging out at # 6)…. Surprisingly grabbing a second week on top after a massive debut at # 1 last week is Taylor Swift’s derivative song “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” which has sold close to a million downloads in just two weeks… Can anyone unseat her next week? I think fast rising Maroon 5 (who also have two tracks in the top ten) has the best bet. Take a look at the new top ten below.
