“Star Trek” Blasts Off at the Box Office

Star-Trek-Into-DarknessStar Trek Into Darkness blasted off at the Box Office with a strong $70 million over the weekend and a total of $84 million since opening on Thursday. Those numbers are right in line with 2009’s Star Trek film. I also think this one will have strong legs like its predecessor thanks to great word of mouth from fans. (I loved the film giving it an “A” grade. It’s super fun and so well done.)… Trek was the only film opening this weekend as Iron Man 3 and The Great Gatsby held up pretty well considering the new competition. All three films will face a barrage of new releases this week for Memorial Day, so it will be a fierce battle next weekend. Stay tuned…. In the meantime, head to Box Office Mojo for all the numbers and check out the new top ten below.
