Check out our New Film “Like You Mean It”

May 21, 2014

LYMI poster1Hey readers,

I wanted to share with you a new project I have been working on, the film Like You Mean It. This film is the first feature I have Co-Produced after two shorts that I also appeared in, the things i cannot change, and the multi-award winning Dirty Talk. It was a thrill to be able to produce a feature that I know you all will love.

Like You Mean It is an intimate drama about two men (Mark and Jonah) determined to fall back in love. The film was written and directed by Philipp Karner who also plays Mark and Co-Produced the film. Karner who has had great success as an actor on both TV (CSI: Miami, Mistresses, Will & Grace) and the big screen (Kiss the Bride and his current festival award winner Diving Normal) has crafted a lovely film about relationships that everyone can relate to. It costars Denver Milord (Jack Reacher) as Jonah along with a fabulously talented cast LYMI STILLincluding Gillian Shure (Diving Normal, CSI), Claudia Graf (Love & Mercy, The Exes), Andrew Dits (My Crazy Roommate, The Bold & The Beautiful), Scotty Crowe (Diving Normal, Rita Rocks, Shameless), Hilary Ward (Grey’s Anatomy, Criminal Minds), Sheila Korsi (Off Their Rockers) and Adrian Quinonez (Castle, CSI).

We shot the movie last month with an amazing crew on a shoe string budget, and we have just launched an Indiegogo campaign to complete the film and help it reach as wide an audience as possible. Please take a look at the video below which tells you all about Like You Mean It and includes some great footage.

My Big Bold 2014 Academy Award Winner Predictions

March 1, 2014

12 chewitAs usual, I have to apologize for the lack of posts. Gratefully I have been busy working, auditioning and prepping several new projects. I’m in pre-production on the feature Like You Mean It (as a Producer) and the short Jack (as a Producer/Star) and I will be shooting an episode of one of my favorite dramatic TV shows next week. So, that’s all great. However, I know you would rather know what I think is gonna happen at Sunday’s big Oscar ceremony hosted by the hilarious Ellen Degeneres.

Well, this year has been an incredibly competitive one with lots of split winners in the Best Picture race at the precursor awards. In fact Gravity, 12 Years a Slave, and even the lackluster and overrated American Hustle could win the big race. Luckily that means we could have a lot of surprises come Sunday night. As such, there are several big races that are too close too call (Best Picture, Adapted Screenplay, Original Screenplay, Score, Editing, Documentary, Supporting Actress and even Best Actor could surprise). So, just who will and should win the Academy Awards this year after an incredibly great year for film? Check out my Big Bold Oscar Winner Predictions below.

My Big Bold 2014 Oscar Winner Predictions~

Best Picture:
12 Years A Slave, American Hustle, Captain Phillips, Dallas Buyers Club, Gravity, Her, Philomena, Nebraska, The Wolf of Wall Street
Will & Should win: 12 Years a Slave
Spoiler: Gravity
* Seriously, either of those two could win. Thankfully, I just don’t think American Hustle can upset them.

Best Actor:
Christian Bale (American Hustle), Bruce Dern (Nebraska), Leonardo DiCaprio (The Wolf of Wall Street), Chewitel Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave), Matthew McConaughey (Dallas Buyers Club)Jared-Leto-Matthew-McConaughey-Dallas-Buyers-Club
Will & Should win: Matthew McConaughey
Spoiler: Leonardo DiCaprio

*McConaughey  has had the edge all season but Ejifor just won the BAFTA and DiCaprio is overdue and has had a big spending campaign. This one might actually go down to the wire…

Best Actress:
Amy Adams (American Hustle), Cate Blanchett (Blue Jasmine), Sandra Bullock (Gravity), Judi Dench (Philomena), Meryl Streep (August Osage County)

Will & Should win: Cate Blanchett

Spoiler: Amy Adams (but yeah, that’s not gonna happen)

Will & Should win: Lupita N’yongo
Spoiler: Jennifer Lawernce
* This race is crazy close. Most pundits are now predicting Lawrence, but I think it is way too soon for her to win two lupitaOscars, let alone back to back. So, hopefully people will vote for the actual Best performance in SAG and Critics Choice Award winner N’yongo

Best Director:
Alfonso Cuaron (Gravity), Steve McQueen (12 Years a Slave), David O’Russell (American Hustle), Alexander Payne (Nebraska), Martin Scorsese (The Wolf of Wall Street)

Spoiler: Philomena

Best Original Screenplay:

* This one is also a toss-up between Her and Hustle, but I think the sheer originality of Her will win the day.

Best Score:
The Book Thief, Gravity, Her, Philomena, Saving Mr. Banks
Will & Should win: Philomena
Spoiler: Gravity
* I’m going out on a limb here and think the actual best score, Philomena, will eek out a win. However, smarter money might be on Gravity.

Best Song:
“Let It Go” (Frozen), “Ordinary Love” (Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom), “The Moon Song” (Her), “Happy” (Despicable Me 2)
Will & Should win: “Let It Go”
Spoiler: “Happy”
* This race has become incredibly close of late. “Ordinary Love” is by powerhouse U2, won the Golden Globe and has a frozen-let-it-go-full-scene-watch-nowhuge campaign behind it. “Happy” is the # 1 song in the country by Grammy Golden boy Pharrell Williams. However, you just can’t deny the phenomena that is Frozen and it’s amazing anthem sung by Tony winner Idina Menel.

Spoiler: Prisoners

Best Editing:

Spoiler: Gravity

Best Costume Design:
12 Years a Slave, American Hustle, The Great Gatsby, The Grandmaster, The Invisible Woman

Will & Should win: Gravity
No spoiler

Best Animated Film:
The Croods, Despicable Me 2, Ernest and Celestine, Frozen, The Wind Rises
Will & Should win: Frozen
Spoiler: The Wind Rises

Best Documentary:
20 Feet From Stardom, The Act of Killing, Cutie and the Boxer, Dirty Wars, The Square
Will & Should win: 20 Feet From Stardom

I’m Back with a Halloween Treat!

October 30, 2013

true horrorHey readers,
I’m back after quite a while and I have a Halloween treat for you. Again sorry for the lack of posts, but I’ve been quite fortunate to be doing a lot of acting/producing work. Along with that comes a lot of auditions. However, I also have some new projects coming up to share with you including my latest short film JACK, our hit film Dirty Talk that has now played 38 festivals across the globe and the hilarious little video below.

I recently shot a hysterical FunnyOrDie video called True Horror written and directed by my friend the uber-talented Shawn Ryan. (You must check out his cabaret shows too~ He’ll be at Feinstein’s in San Francisco on Nov. 7th.) It stars the wonderful John Ainsworth whom I appeared with in Hot Guys with Guns earlier this year, and yes, Shawn Ryan was in that too… Anywho, Ainsworth plays a dad taking his daughter out trick or treating and her costume causes some seriously crazy reactions. That’s where I come in. I play half of a conservative couple alongside the delightful Betsy Reisz who have quite a visceral reaction to the young girl’s costume. It was also great fun to reconnect and perform again with Betsy who I co-starred in the wacky web-series Raccoon Stories. Check out the comedy below and vote “Funny” too!

“TRUE HORROR”

Hope you enjoyed and I’ll be trying to post more frequently for ya’ll soon too. Thanks everyone and Happy Halloween!!

I’m Back with My Big Bold 2013 Emmy Award Winner Predictions!

September 19, 2013

Hi readers,
So sorry for the long dry spell between posts, but as most of you know I’ve been very busy with my acting/producing career for the past few months… Since my last post, I shot the films The Pinhole Affect and 420 along with more episodes of the webseries Sammy Kingsford: Manager to the Stars and the series The Adventures of Velvet Prozak. Also, the film I co-produced and co-starred in, Dirty Talk, has now played over 35 festivals across the globe winning 7 awards along the way, and you can catch me in the films Hot Guys with Guns and The Boogeyman on the festival circuit now. Ok, enough about me.
Let’s get to what you really want to see~ my big bold 2013 Emmy Award winner predictions. This year we could actually see some 1683535-inline-i-3-anna-gunn-reflects-on-what-it-was-like-to-play-walter-whites-wife-on-breaking-badexciting shakeups in the winners. Can The Big Bang Theory unseat Modern Family? Will Breaking Bad finally win Drama Series on its 5th try? Can anything ever beat The Amazing Race? Well, with the surprise wins at last weekend’s Creative Arts Emmy Ceremony, I think we could be in for a fun night of shockers. Last weekend Carrie Preston (The Good Wife) and Dan Bucatinsky (Scandal) both shocked with their Guest Actor Drama wins while Tim Gunn helped Heidi Klum (Project Runway) snatch the Reality Competition Host prize for the first time. I was thrilled with those wins. On the Comedy side, Melissa Leo (Louie) and Bob Newhart (The Big Bang Theory) beat out a quartet of Saturday Night Live hosts to win Guest Actor and Actress and those wins could foreshadow big things for their respective series on Sunday…. With that said, take a look at my predictions below and watch the Primetime Emmy Awards Sunday night on CBS.

Rest in Peace Cory Monteith~ You will be Missed!

July 16, 2013

glee Cory & the boysA few years back, I had the pleasure of attending the first Glee concert tour and my friends got us back stage to meet some of the cast. While several of the cast greeted us with warm smiles, the one actor who was the most kind, gracious and enthusiastic about meeting the fans was Cory Monteith. He stayed for hours to meet with many devoted fans posing for pictures with everyone including yours truly and my friends who, let’s just say, fall out of Glee’s target demographic. Now, that is a great guy. He talked to us for a bit and was just so authentic and giving. Those were precisely the qualities he brought to his role of quarterback turned singing superstar Finn Hudson on Glee.
Unfortunately, as you all know, Monteith passed away this weekend from an overdose of alcohol and heroin. It was especially sad because Monteith had conquered his demons for so many years prior and blossomed as a wonderful actor and singer. I remember at the Glee concert, I was surprised at just how strong a live singer he was and how he held his own next to his powerhouse girlfriend Lea Michelle. His exuberance on stage was infectious as was his spirit in real life. He will be sorely missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to Michelle and Cory’s family and friends and everyone at Glee. I’m grateful we had the time we did with Monteith but so devastated at his loss and the terrible illness that is addiction. Remember, there is help and hope out there if you are struggling.

For now, I want to leave you with some of Montieth’s best musical moments on Glee. Rest in Peace Cory!
